Description of Organization: CLAP is a registered society operating in the State of Orissa, India since 1982. It has a mandate to promote and protect the best interest of children. The CLAP over a period of two decades has served the children's community. The issue of child labor finds highest priority on the agenda of CLAP, as it is a worst form of human rights violation.

Description of Project funded by CIRCLE: The Right Path to Education project focuses on making education a fundamental right of every child. The project is a part of a larger program in the nomenclature of "In Defence of the Child" which CLAP has managed for the last four years. The "In Defence of the Child Project" is an innovative search for promotion and protection of the best interest of the child through exploring laws, the legal system, and the legal process. The project traces a rights-based approach within the framework of law to realize the rights of the children as conceived in the Convention on the Rights of the Child. It is an attempt to reduce child labor by opening up opportunities and facilities as a matter of a right to education. This will be realized by engaging key actors at different levels in a convergence approach.

Project Targets (Common Indicators):
3000 out-of school children will be beneficiaries.
